Stop walking in darkness, Choose The Light.
When most of us walk in our house, a building, or dark room we search for the light switch and turn on the light so that we may see. How many of you have walked in a dark room and stub your toe or stumbled over something you didn’t have the ability to see for the lack of light in the room? Sometimes we have rooms or places that we may know, so to walk in them without light may no longer be a challenge for us, but there still maybe things that are in the floor that we aren’t expecting that can cause us to fall.
Even in our homes and places of work we appreciate the gift of light. No matter how comfortable we maybe with a place in our life we still seek out light. We don’t want to live or work in the dark. The reason we appreciate light is because it illuminates the space we are in and helps us to navigate through that space with more ease.
My question is this: Why do we have enough sense to search for light when walking in a dark room, building, or place, but continue to choose to walk in the world of darkness without the light from the Son! Yes I mean Son, not Sun. John 8:12, When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Jesus is the Son of God and also the Light of the World. We no longer are obligated to walk in darkness. He entered the world so that we may walk through life in light. Let’s stop walking around in the dark and seek out the light of the world. If you want to see where you’re going in life don’t you still need light?! We need light to do almost everything in this life. At night we can only drive because of street lights and lights built-in to the car. We have access to the light let’s not continue to walk with out our source of light. Seek Him and He will begin to illuminate your path so that you can navigate through this life more easily.
In John 3 :19 it reads, “… Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”
Could it be that we choose to walk in darkness because we don’t want God to illuminate our sins and make us deal with them? As long as we walk around in the dark we will continue to stumble and fall. We have to get to the point where we are tired of falling and ask God to shine his light on our dark places so that we can have the capacity to see what is in front of us. Let’s hate the dark and find the light of Jesus Christ. Open your bible and seek him out until he turns the switch on those dark places. The places that only you and He know need light. When we seek Him, we seek light and truth. Let’s get to the truth of why we can’t walk with out falling. For some of us it isn’t a mystery at all, we’ll connect to the source of our light, walk in the light and then willingly choose to turn the light off and fall back into what ever had us bound.
We cannot allow the fear of being exposed keep us from seeing the truth. If we keep refusing the light we will die in our dark place (our sin). John 8: 23& 24, “…I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins. ”
Lets stop walking in the dark, and choose the Light.
Jesus we need you to be the light of our lives no matter how painful it may be, please illuminate the areas of our lives that are not pleasing to you. Help us to find your light and stay in it. We no longer want to walk in the dark no matter how comfortable with that place we maybe. We are tired of stumbling and need you to light and guide our way through this life. God we apologize for every time we chose darkness over your glorious, wonderful and beautiful light. We know that you are all we need and we pray for a spirit of contentment. Lord we ask that as we seek your light that you stop every dark thing trying to attack us. God we love and want to please you! Please give us the strength to choose your light. In Jesus Mighty Name we pray. Amen!
I really pray for us all that God remain our focus! I pray for the strength of each and every one of us who has the heart to serve and live a life pleasing to God, but sometimes find ourselves back in our dark places. I pray the Light of Jesus will illuminate our lives and eliminate every ounce of darkness trying to enter our space!
I love you guys and hope you continue to strive to give your hearts to God! Don’t be ashamed if you have fallen! The beauty in falling is we can get back up and Jesus will help you back up. I was reading Luke 17 and in verse 3 it reads ” So watch yourselves.”‘If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in a day and seven times comes back to you and says, ‘I repent,’ Forgive him.” While reading this it occurred to me that if Jesus is instructing us to forgive in this way, doesn’t he extend the same forgiveness to us! Jesus loves you and no matter what you have done He is mighty to save and forgive! Love me some Him!
